Unfortunately we
live in a time when some of the most precious masterpieces of Persian literature
have been banned inside Iran. These include short and long stories, introduction
to poetry books, criticism of other Persian literature and novels.
I had looked for some of these works for so many years and
I couldn't find them anywhere. Some of them are very old (such as the story of
Amir Arsalan Namdar which my grandmother
told me when I was a kid and I never could find a printed version) and some are
very new but of course banned from publishing inside Iran.
The Iranian government has tried very hard to choose
the right!![?] books for the new generation and making sure they will
never read anything that might question the values of revolution or
fundamentalist ideas.
Fortunately, this all has changed by the Internet, a
friend of mine sent me a couple of links to websites that have gathered all of
these stories and masterpieces and made them available for everyone to read. I
got these list from a variety of websites and I have motioned them at the bottom
of the page. The credit of this huge attempt of course belongs to these
websites.
Let them know that stories have been told for
thousand years and no government no matter how powerful and ---- has ever been
successful to stop them.
